Description
The dovecote at Compton Wynyates dates from around 1600 and is constructed of red brick with limestone quoins and a plinth. It features a pyramidal stone slate roof that is laid to diminishing courses and has an octagonal plan. The entrance is framed by a stone surround with a keystoned head, a floating cornice, and a plank door. There is also a louvred wood lantern on top. Inside, the original arrangement of nesting boxes is still intact, although the roof has been renewed.
