Description
The Old Post House and Swallowfield Cottage is a house that has been divided into two separate residences. It dates from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century and extensions added in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a hipped roof covered with old tiles. It has a rectangular plan, with 20th-century extensions on the left side and at the rear. The house is two storeys high and has two chimneys on the ridge. The eaves are decorated with dentils, and the windows are mostly small pane casements, primarily in three-light configurations.
The entrance front consists of four bays, with casements that have segmental heads, except for a shallow 19th-century bay on the right side of the ground floor. There is a six-panelled door located in the second bay from the right, and a 20th-century small pane glazed door beneath a flat hood in the first bay on the left. To the left of this entrance, set back, is a one-bay, two-storey brick extension with a hipped tile roof.
