Description
The building is a boiler house and storage facility located at Cayton Park South, approximately 25 metres east of the stable block. It dates from the late 19th century and is constructed of brick with a tiled, coped gable roof. The building has a rectangular plan and is one storey high. A large square chimney is situated on the east roof slope, near the ridge, and there is a ventilation turret in front of the chimney featuring moulded eaves and a pyramidal roof, with two arched and louvred openings on each face. The windows are leaded casement style. The entrance on the south front consists of a two-leaf plank door set in the centre of a large semicircular arched eight-light glazed opening. There is a lower bay on the right and two-light windows on the left return. Historically, Juddmonte South was previously known as Cayton Park and served as a mortuary during World War I when the site operated as a military hospital.
