Description

The stables and barn, located approximately 10 metres east of Halls Farmhouse, date from the late 18th century and are currently used for part garage and part storage. The stables are constructed of brick and feature an old tile roof, while the barn is timber framed with some weatherboarding and brick infill walls, topped with an old tile half-hipped roof. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with the barn consisting of five framed bays and a central midstrey on the west side, and the stables comprising six bays adjoining to the west. The stables are one and a half storeys high and have a dentilled eaves course.

The central gabled hayloft has a plank door, and below it is a seven-light opening with diamond mullions, along with a large plank door and a similar seven-light opening to the right of centre. To the left of centre, there is a large plank door with a fretted overboard for pigeon entry, and C20 garage doors are located at the left end. Inside, the barn features a queen post roof with additional queen struts and clasped purlins, along with curved windbraces and jowled posts. The stables have an arched braced roof with purlins trenched on the arch braces, and there are horse stands and troughs on the ground floor.
