Description
Baileys Cottage is a mid-16th century cottage that has been extended and altered in the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick infill and an old tile gabled roof. Originally, the cottage had two framed bays, but it has since been extended to form an L-shape on the southeast side. The building is two storeys high and has a large chimney on the right-hand gable.
The entrance front faces northwest and includes 20th-century leaded casement windows. The original two framed bays are located in the right-hand section. On the first floor, there are three two-light windows, and on the ground floor, there are four similar windows. To the left of the centre, there is a 20th-century gabled entrance porch with a plain door.
Inside, the timber frame is exposed, showcasing straight posts and braces, as well as ground floor joists that have chamfers and step stops. The southeast extension is of a similar style with false timbers but is considered to have no special interest.
