Description

Tripps is a hall house, now a residential home, dating from the early 16th century, with extensions and alterations made in the 18th century and mid-20th century. The building features a combination of part timber frame with painted brick infill and part painted brick. Its roof is a mix of tile and old tile, forming an L-plan with two framed bays and small extensions on the north and east sides. The house has one and a half to two storeys, with two chimneys on the front roof slope and one on the rear, all topped with clay pots.

The entrance, located on the southwest front, is irregularly arranged. It includes 19th and 20th century casement windows with glazing bars. To the left, there is an extension with a catslide roof and a small hipped-roof dormer featuring a two-light window. The ground floor has two three-light windows, while the central section displays exposed timber framing and another two three-light windows. A central 20th century gabled enclosed porch has a plank door and sidelights, with a two-light window to the left and a small single-light window to the right. On the right side, a gable shows part of the exposed timber frame, with two two-light windows on the first floor and one similar window on the ground floor.

Inside, the house contains two large inglenook fireplaces with bread ovens. The ground floor joists are chamfered with run-out stops, and the roof features queen post trusses, jowled posts, and arch braces, with some sooting visible on the roof timbers.
