Description
The Plough Public House is a late 15th-century cottage, subsequently altered and extended in the late 19th century. It is now a public house. The building is timber-framed with painted brick infill and part brick construction, and has old tile gabled roofs. It has an L-shaped plan, originally comprising three by two framed bays, with extensions to the north and west sides. The building is two storeys high, featuring two large chimneys, one of which has tall clay pots. Windows include 19th-century casement windows and 19th-century sash windows in the extensions. The east-facing front is irregular, with windows scattered across the facade. A gable projects to the right, with a smaller gabled projection on the ground floor to the left side. This section features a small two-light window on the first floor and a small two-light window on the ground floor. The left-hand part of the front has one small two-light window on the first floor, a fixed window with small panes and shutters on the ground floor, and a half-glazed entrance door to the right, situated near the internal angle. Internally, some timber framing is exposed on the first floor.
