Description

Sill Bridge Cottage is an early 16th-century cottage, altered in the 20th century. It is located on the east side of West End Road, Waltham St Lawrence. The cottage is timber frame with painted brick infill, with sections of painted brick, and has an old tile gabled roof. The rectangular plan features 2 framed bays, with a gable facing the road and a lean-to extension to the north, topped with a gabled dormer window. It has one and a half storeys. A large projecting chimney is on the west gable, and a smaller, later chimney with clay pots sits on the ridge. C19 and C20 casement windows are present. The west-facing road front has a gable end with a lean-to to the left and a large chimney with a raked flue. A small 2-light window is on the first floor to the right, with a gabled entrance porch and a plain door beneath the window.
