Description
The war memorial at Beaumont College, located approximately 45 meters from the north-west corner of the main building, was created around 1920 and designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. It is constructed from Portland stone ashlar and features a symmetrical design. The memorial consists of a podium with four steps leading up to a plain altar, which is flanked by bench seats and topped with a tall cenotaph.
The structure includes console brackets supporting a projecting inscription panel that holds a bronze commemorative plaque. Above this panel is a blocking course adorned with acroteria and a finial shaped like a laurel wreath and swords. A large round arched opening above contains a bronze figure of Christ on a stone cross, complemented by a moulded cornice, a pediment, and a frieze displaying a motto. Below the inscription plaque, the incised text reads: "REQVIEM AETERNAM DONNA EIS DOMINE."
