Description
The boat house, located at the north end of Runnymede Meadows between Windsor Road and the River Thames, dates from the mid-19th century. It features a two-storey rectangular plan with a ground floor constructed of red brick arranged in a diaper pattern. The first floor is clad in vertical tongued and grooved boarding painted white. The gabled roof is covered with diamond pattern asbestos cement slates.
On the ground floor, there are boat house doors situated beneath a large balcony. The balcony is supported by moulded corner posts and has a balustrade with turned spindles. A fringe of shaped pelmet boards runs around the building at the balcony floor level and also at the eaves level. The barge board displays a loop ornament, and the gable end is filled with vertical boards that are shaped and pierced. The balcony posts are reinforced with steel columns.
