Description

The boat house, located 170 meters southeast of Wittington, was built around 1900 by Sir Reginald Blomfield for Hudson Ewbanke Kearley. It is constructed of red brick with a stone band course and chamfered quoins. The building features a moulded wooden eaves cornice with modillions and a pyramid roof made of Westmorland slate, although the wooden finial is missing.

On the southwest side, there is a brick chimney topped with a moulded stone cap and a stone keyblock above an arched recessed panel. The rectangular structure contains two small rooms and a balcony over the boathouse. The northwest side has a gauged head over the doorway leading to the upper part and a boarded window. Steps on the southwest side lead down to the boathouse.

The southeast side, which faces the River Thames, features a gauged brick arch to the boathouse with a keyblock that breaks into the band course. Above the boathouse is a balcony with a rendered parapet. The room that opens onto the balcony has a row of four 3-pane sash windows and a central doorway. Some of the sashes are missing glazing bars, and the doorway has a wooden semi-circular arch with a keyblock and panelled spandrels. Inside this room, there is a small corner fireplace and a moulded cornice, while the rear room contains a kitchen fireplace.
