Description

Two adjoining houses, built in the 18th century and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The houses are constructed of brick with an old tile hipped roof. They have a rectangular, double-depth plan. The houses are two storeys high, with several chimneys featuring offset heads and clay pots. A moulded wooden eaves cornice with modillions runs along the top of the building. The windows are wooden casements with decorative lead glazing. The west front has seven windows on the first floor, arranged as 3, 2, 2, 1, 3, 2, 2 lights. On the ground floor, the Chapter House section has two entrance doors: a 20th-century part-glazed door on the left and a four-panel door with a reeded frieze and sidelights in a recessed porch on the right. There are two windows between the doors; one is a single light and the other is a three-light window. The Priory Close section has an early 20th-century six-panel entrance door with a plain overlight. To the left of the door there is a three-light window, and to the right there are two two-light windows. Ladye Place adjoins the houses on the south and is separately listed.
