Description
The coach house at Wittington, built around 1900, is likely designed by Sir Reginald Bloomfield for Hudson Ewbanke Kearley. It is constructed of red brick with a stone band course on the first floor and chamfered quoins. The building features moulded wooden eaves and a hipped roof made of Westmorland slate, topped with a brick chimney that has a stone cap. The structure is L-shaped, with a covered court at the angle, and consists of one storey and an attic.
The northern front displays three semi-circular arches, each with barred wooden Diocletian windows and keystones. Above, there are three pedimented dormers with barred wooden lights, although the left dormer has been altered to a semi-dormer. The centre of the roof once featured a rusticated wooden base for a lantern. The sides facing the court include sliding doors leading to the coach houses, a stable door, two board doors, and barred wooden casements. A dormer window is present at the southern end, and the court itself is covered with glass supported by iron shafts.
