Description

Wittington Cottages comprise three cottages arranged in an L-shaped block. The central two bays date back to the late 18th century, with extensions added around 1900: one bay to the west and a wing to the east. The south front of the original central portion is constructed of knapped flint with simple flint surrounds to the openings. The north wall is of flint with brick dressings. The extension to the left is built of vitreous header brick with red brick dressings, while the wing to the right is of knapped flint with brick dressings. The roofs are of plain tiles, with brick chimneys. Wooden bargeboards and some tile-hanging are present on the gables of the extensions.

The original 18th-century bays feature three-light casement windows; the ground floor windows have leaded glass, and the upper windows have wooden glazing bars. A central entrance has a flush-panelled door beneath a wooden cornice hood. The 1900 extensions have barred wooden casement windows, and those in the right wing are accentuated by brick Tudor hoodmoulds.
