Description

The gatepiers and gates at The Lodge Cottage date from around 1909 and were built for Hudson Ewbanke Kearley, Lord Devonport. The gate piers are made of red brick and feature moulded caps with ball finials crafted from Ham stone, although the ball finial on the right pier is missing. The piers are adorned with stone scrolls on the side pilasters. The gates themselves are made of wrought iron and include standards with scroll ornamentation, as well as the ciphers HEK and D. The design of the gates is ramped down, forming an inverted arch.
