Description
The retaining walls, steps, and balustrades to the garden terraces immediately south of Danesfield House were built around 1900 for Mr. Robert Hudson. These features are part of a formal terraced garden. The retaining walls are rendered, while the stone steps and balustrades display decorative elements. The balustrades on the sides of the terraces are arcaded and supported by rusticated piers with keyblocks. The main piers are also rusticated and topped with ball finials. The balustrade along the southern side of the house features a design of inverted fishscales. The central flight of steps includes side benches with carved stone scroll ends. These elements are included for their group value.
