Description

The walls and gate piers to the west of West Lodge are a pair of structures dating from around 1874, located at the entrance to the Danesfield grounds. They are constructed from knapped flint with brick dressings and feature off-set pitched stone coping. The low walls step down to the right and are complemented by square piers with chamfered angles. The larger gate piers are adorned with stone bands and caps, while the smaller terminal piers have octagonal pyramid stone caps. These features are included for their group value. The wrought iron gates that were added in 1984 are not included in this listing.
