Description
The two lodges at the north end of Runnymede Meadows were designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and built between 1930 and 1932. They feature a stone band below the eaves, a stone plinth up to cill level, and stone quoins with red brick infill. The lodges have massive clay tile roofs with hipped ends and two large chimney stacks. They are single-storey buildings with a J-shaped plan.
On the east elevation, there is a group of three 18-pane sash windows in the center, which penetrate the roof and are capped with hipped dormer roofs. At each end, there is a single 9-pane sash window located below the eaves, and all windows are fitted with louvred shutters. The south elevation has a single 18-pane sash window of the same design. The north elevation features a central door flanked by two 18-pane sash windows. The west elevation includes a pair of 18-pane sashes in the wing, along with a gated opening and two 9-pane sashes at the rear. The North Lodge has a mirrored plan of the South Lodge.
