Description

The Old Rectory is a house located on Yattendon Lane, with its north front dating from 1740 and the south front from 1747, along with early 19th century and 1906 additions. It is constructed of red brick, featuring a stone cornice and a stone-coped parapet. The building has a hipped old tile roof, which includes three square-headed two-light dormers and end stacks. The house is two storeys high with an attic and consists of five bays with glazing bar sashes. The central entrance has a six-panelled door framed by a plain architrave, topped with a straight hood supported by scrolled brackets and an apron-shaped tympanum.

To the left, there is an early 19th-century addition made of red brick, which also has a stone-coped parapet and a hipped tile roof. This addition is two storeys tall, featuring a two-light casement on the first floor and a glazing bar sash on the ground floor. The far left addition, built in 1906, is similarly made of red brick and has a wooden eaves cornice with a hipped tile roof. This section is also two storeys, with two first-floor glazing bar sashes and a single ground floor casement. The north front mirrors the red brick construction with a stone cornice and stone-coped parapet, along with a hipped old tile roof, maintaining the overall aesthetic of the property. The central entrance on this front has a half-glazed door with a plain architrave and brackets supporting a straight hood.
