Description

17 Bartholomew Street is a building from the mid-18th century that has been altered over time. It was formerly part of the Sugar Loaf Inn, which is adjacent at No 16. The building has two storeys and features five windows. It is topped with a slate roof and constructed from multi-coloured stock brick. A stone dentil cornice and a panelled parapet add to its architectural detail. The recessed sash windows, which have glazing bars, are framed with gauged flat brick. The mid-19th century stone shopfront includes rusticated pilasters that support an entablature-fascia, and it features a large entrance for a carriageway that led to the former inn yard.
