Description

16 Bartholomew Street is a building from the mid-18th century that has been altered and was formerly part of the Sugar Loaf Inn, which is adjacent at No 17. The structure has three storeys, with the top storey being an early 19th-century addition over the last three bays. It features five windows and a hipped tile roof. The exterior is made of multi-coloured stock brick and includes a stone dentil cornice and a panelled parapet. The recessed sash windows have gauged flat brick arches, and the first-floor windows in the end three bays have been lowered. There is a modern shopfront at the bottom, and an early 19th-century doorcase with reeded pilasters supports an entablature with a projecting cornice, leading to a half-glazed door.
