Description
St Mary's College is an early 19th-century building located on Midanbury Lane in Bitterne. It stands three storeys tall with a modern attic and features a stuccoed exterior topped by a hipped and mansarded slate roof. The building has a wide bracketed eaves cornice and six windows with glazing bars, with the four central window bays projecting slightly.
The main block is flanked by small one-storey pavilions that project significantly. On the north entrance front, these pavilions are made of painted brick and each has a triple sash window with an elliptical arch, modillion cornice, and gable above. They are connected to the main block by a curved wall. In the centre of this front, there is a semi-circular porch.
On the south garden front, the pavilions feature curved fronts with three windows each. The main block has three round-headed windows on the ground floor, a Venetian window to the west of these, and a doorway to the east that is adorned with pilasters and a projecting cornice above.
