Description

The Clock Tower at the east end of Cobden Bridge was built in 1889 by S. Kelway Pope. Originally located at the junction of Above Bar Street and New Road, it was moved to its current site in 1936. The tower is constructed of stone and designed in the style of an Early English church steeple, featuring lancet decoration. At the top, the spire is topped with a cross, and the structure includes polished granite engaged columns along with drinking fountains adorned with lion's head masks. The base is supported by buttresses.
