Description

The Church of St Denys was built in 1868 by Sir Gilbert Scott in the Early English style. It is constructed of red brick with stone quoins. The church features a five-bay nave and aisles, with the south aisle added in 1889, and has a three-gabled west end. The chancel is apsidal and includes chapels. The windows are lancets, adorned with mouldings and shafts, and there is some intermediate blank arcading. An open gabled bellcote is positioned over the east end of the nave. The south chapel contains several encaustic tiles from the 12th century Augustinian Prior of St Denys, which was located near the current church.
