Description

1 Vespasian Road is a mid-19th century house designed in the shape of a circular tower, likely inspired by a Martello tower. It is constructed from coursed stone rubble and tapers towards the roof. The building features a moulded cornice with stone blocks on top that create the appearance of crenellations, as well as a stone stringcourse. There are two pointed arches that have modern windows inserted, and a pointed arched doorcase with a trelliswork porch. This design represents an unusual adaptation of the Martello plan for a domestic residence.
