Description

Large barn to the south-east of Chazey Farmhouse, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. This very large seven-bay barn features a steep roof and is constructed of red brick with a plinth, incorporating some blue headers in the end gables. It has raised and weathered stone verges with pinnacles and a central entrance on each side. The barn displays a symmetrical group of vents in the brickwork on both the side and end walls. Inside, it has a queen post roof with windbraces. There is also a weatherboarded lean-to on the east gable. The construction of this barn is very similar to that of the stable and chapel at Chazey Farmhouse, as well as the Tudor building at Mapledurham House.
