Description
The brick barn located to the west and slightly north of Chafford Park is an L-shaped structure, very long, and possibly dating from the 16th century. It is a single storey building with two dormers and features a high pitched tiled roof that includes a loading door on the left side. There are five window openings with cambered arches, fitted with later casements. The barn has three chamfered brick doorways, two of which are Tudor arched and one is pointed arched; the pointed arched doorway may be modern. Additionally, there is one ancient panelled door and a high brick plinth. This barn is likely a remnant from a monastic establishment. The barn, along with Chafford Park, the front garden wall, and the mounting block, forms a cohesive group.
