Description
SIDMOUTH STREET 1. 5128 Nos 3 and 5 SU 7273 7/568 II 2. 1880s. 2½ or 3 storey pair in Butterfield Vicarage style. Sufficiently asymetrical to require a second glance. 1 bay each with 2 windows per floor (3, stepped, on ground floor; 1 on 2nd floor of no 5). Sash windows with marginned glazing. Stop moulded reveals with splayed cills. Red brick with subtle polychromy. Plinth. Band over ground floor string over 1st floor. String with over arch above arched 2nd floor windows of No 3 and above 1st floor windows of No 5. 2nd floor window of latter interrupts both the over arch string (which is dropped below it) and the string above. Stepped and moulded eaves courses, returned up verges of ½ hip of No 3. Tiled roofs, No 5 hipped with 2nd floor windows. ½ dormer (itself with half hipped gable). Large brick chimneys in valley between roofs. Entrances in extruded apsidal 2 storey extension on each side with arch windows and short turrets. Further bulbous extensions on garden side corners.
