Description

Old Moat Farmhouse is a house from the 16th century that has been altered. It features close studded timber framing with brick and plastered infill, and has a stone plinth. The roof is tiled and includes irregular chimneys, one of which is on the right side of the northeast section and has four rectangular shafts set in a cruciform pattern on the base. The building has two storeys and an attic.

The northwest front has a tall gable on the left with corner braces and plastered infill, along with two bays of casement windows. The central part has two irregular bays, with the right-hand ground floor obscured by a chimney stack that arches over to form a porch for the door located in the angle. There is a projecting, slightly lower gabled wing on the right side, with a stone ground floor and an upper part that is timber framed with plaster infill. This wing features one upper casement window, one casement window on the ground floor to the left, and a door to the right with a small bridge over the moat.

The southwest front is made of stone, while the northeast front is jettied. The northwest side is dated 1661, with the inscription 'T.G. 1661' on a stone near the doorway. Inside, there are two 16th-century fireplaces with four-centred stone arches and moulded jambs.
