Description

White House Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th to 17th century that has been altered over time. It features whitewashed roughcast, likely over a timber frame, with some exposed framing on the left side. The building has a rubble stone plinth and an old tile roof. The chimney stacks are made of thin brick with square shafts set diagonally, with two on the left side and right gable, and four in the center.

The house has an L-plan layout and consists of two storeys and an attic. The first floor of the main wing jetties over a plaster cove, supported by a moulded wall plate and bressumer. It has four bays, with the left bay projecting to the front and featuring a gabled roof with modillioned bargeboards. The windows are three-light leaded casements, with those on the first floor topped by moulded wooden cornices. The left bay includes a smaller similar window in the attic of the front gable, while the right-hand return wall has a canted bay window with leaded lights and transoms, along with a 20th-century door at the angle with the main wing.

The third bay contains a 16th-century boarded and studded door in a moulded frame, leading to a porch dated 1662 EVM 1894. The porch is made of ashlar at the front and thin brick on the sides, featuring a four-centred arch with shields in the spandrels, fluted Doric pilasters on panelled plinths, and a moulded entablature that continues around the sides, topped with a pediment. There is a single leaded light window to the left of the porch, and the center of the range has an ashlar niche with a shallow arched head. Inside, the projecting wing has a stone fireplace with a four-centred arch on the ground floor.
