Description

Number 47 (including former Number 45) and Number 49, known as The Corner House, is a house and cottage located on North Street in Castlethorpe. This building dates from the 18th century and is marked with the year 1731. It is constructed of coursed rubblestone and has plain tile roofs. The structure has two storeys, with Numbers 47 and 49 featuring attics and a range of four bays. There are central and end brick stacks, a central doorway, and blocked doors with keystones located between the first and second bays and between the third and fourth bays. All windows have keystones, with some displaying carved foliage and bosses. A date stone inscribed 'WK 1731' is positioned between the first-floor windows, topped with a cornice. Number 47 has modern two-light windows, while Number 49 features modern barred windows with full-width fanlights. To the west of Number 47, there is a two-bay stone range with two casements and a door. Attached to and part of Number 47 is Number 45, which is also from the 18th century, consisting of one and a half bays with a left-hand door and a lean-to to the north, along with coved stone eaves and modern casements.
