Description

The Simpson War Memorial Obelisk is located on the verge just outside the churchyard, about 12 meters west of the Church of St Thomas, which is listed at Grade II*. It is also near other Grade II-listed buildings. This memorial, made of Cornish granite, stands approximately 3 meters tall and has the shape of a scabbled obelisk with a square base that features a chamfered design. The west face of the pedestal is inscribed with the words "LEST WE FORGET 1914 - 1918." In front of the base, there is an angled granite stone that lists the names of those commemorated, with the years 1914 – 1918 followed by 11 names, and 1939 – 1945 followed by 6 names.
