Description

Nos 187 and 189 on Simpson Road are a pair of houses built around 1840-1850. They are two storeys tall and constructed of chequered brick, topped with a low hipped slate roof. There is a band between the storeys. Each house has one window in the main block, featuring recessed glazing bar sashes. The entrance bays, which are set back, each have one window with glazing bar sashes on both floors, along with a six-panel door that has a rectangular fanlight above it and woodwork over. The entrance bay of No 189 has been altered. These houses are included for their group value in relation to the nearby Church of St Thomas, as well as The Forge and No 436, forming a cohesive group.
