Description

York House, a youth club, is a detached villa built around 1840. It stands three stories tall and features three window bays. The building is constructed of red brick, accented by four wide yellow brick pilaster strips set on even wider red brick pilaster strips. It has a yellow brick plinth and stone caps on the pilaster strips, along with a moulded string course above the ground floor. The slate roof has a square ridge plan and deep eaves with panelled soffits above the windows. The upper two floors have glazing bar sash windows, while the ground floor features French windows. A slightly projecting porch is partially obscured by a recent Doric portico, which has two pairs of thin fibreglass columns and modern glazed doors. The returns on the north-west and south-east sides are built of yellow brick.
