Description

The Church of St Mary, built in 1864, is designed in the Lancet Gothic style by architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. The church features a nave and a north aisle, the latter added in 1867, along with an apsed chancel and a porch on the south-west side. It is constructed of stone with a red tile roof. The west end has two gables, each with two lancet windows and a round window in the gable. There are four buttresses and corner buttresses. The roofs of the nave and chancel are continuous, interrupted only by a bell cote that marks the division between the two, featuring a gable and two bell openings. The church is part of a group that includes St Mary's Parish Hall and St Mary's Vicarage.
