Description
This is a late 17th-century house with later alterations and additions, located on the east side of Market Square in Stony Stratford. The building is two storeys high and is constructed of brick and stone, with a steeply pitched tiled roof and brick chimney stacks. The front is stuccoed and painted white. It features two widely spaced windows on each floor, which are 18th-century sash windows with glazing bars. A central entrance has a simple doorway with a triangular pediment supported by two plain consoles, rising above a semi-circular head. A fanlight with heavy tracery is above the doorway. A moulded wooden eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. The building is part of a group which includes numbers 36 to 40 Church Street, Stratford House, and other listed buildings in Market Square.
