Description
14 and 15 Market Square is a house that has undergone significant repairs and rebuilding, featuring a 19th-century front. The interior includes some 17th-century details. The building has three storeys and a shallow pitched late slate roof. The second and third storeys are made of late red brick and have three windows each, with the central window being blind. The windows have cambered arched heads and plain reveals, with a single light sash on the second floor and a three-light sash on the first floor. The ground floor is cement rendered and painted, featuring two small wooden-framed windows; the right-hand window retains its original glazing bars, while the left-hand window has been altered to a three-light bay with depressed sashes. These windows are connected by a deep entablature with a dentilled cornice that bows at the ends. There are paired doors in the center with a simple wooden casing, flanked by pilasters. The building is part of a group that includes Nos 36 to 40 Church Street, Stratford House, Mill Lane, and all the listed buildings in the Market Square.
