Description

Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse with a rear range dating from around 1676 and a front range built in 1863, which is not considered of special interest. The rear range is constructed of stone rubble with Bembridge limestone quoins and features a thatched roof with an off-central brick stack. It has a three-bay lobby entrance design, is one storey high with attics, and has three windows, although the original windows have been altered with cement. The gable end to the north has coping and kneelers, and there is an outshut at the rear. Inside, the farmhouse includes chamfered axial beams with lambs tongue stops, 18th-century plank doors, and cupboards with butterfly hinges. A datestone from 1676, which bears the names Robard and Elizebeth Bret, is believed to have been removed from the farmhouse and is now on one of the farm buildings.
