Description

Greystone Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with deeds dated 1750, and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of stone rubble with white brick dressings from the early to mid-19th century. The roof is slate, with brick chimney stacks at each end. The house is two storeys high and has two windows at the front. A brick rear range was added in the late 19th century. The front windows are 16-pane sashes, set within moulded architraves and incorporating cambered head linings on the ground floor. A central wooden trellis porch is present. The front door is a four-panel design, with the two upper panels glazed. The right return wall and chimney stack were rebuilt in 1976, and a garage was added in 1978. 20th-century rear extensions are not considered to be of special architectural interest. The cottage is listed for group value.
