Description
Herriot House and Edgemount is a pair of houses dating from 1870, constructed from coursed rubble with yellow brick dressings. They are two storeys tall and feature a gable end slate roof with brick saddlestones. The front has symmetrical fenestration with five windows, including stone mullioned casements. The central window on the first floor is transomed and has a stepped drip above, set in a stone finialed gable. There is a weathered sill course along the base of the windows. Gabled porches are located at each end of the front, adjacent to single storey short lobby wings. This building is included for its group interest, as it forms part of a collection that includes The Old Smugglers Cottage, The Bobbin, Nightingales, and the Lodge to Compton Undermount.
