Description
The Lodge to Compton Undermount is a Grade II listed building dated 1857. It is a picturesque structure built from flint with rough stone dressings, designed in an L-plan with a steep gable end tiled roof and overhanging eaves. The walls have a battered stone base. The gable end facing the road features a rectangular pent roof bay with three mullioned casements that have diamond glazing, supported by a stone oriel base on two corbel brackets. This design creates the appearance of heads for two narrow ground floor lancet windows. There is a broached corner with a small casement window, and similar windows are found on the east return of the building. The roof extends down at the angle of the wing to form a porch, which includes a four-centred arched doorway. The Lodge is part of a group that includes Herriot House, Edgemount, The Old Smugglers Cottage, The Bobbin, and Nightingales.
