Description
The garden wall and gazebo at Billingham Manor date from the 18th century and early 20th century. At the southwest end, there are four early 20th-century square brick piers; the two central piers feature gadrooned stone urns, while the outer piers are adorned with stone lions seated on low brick walls. These walls are topped with iron spear railings that include dog rails and panels with urn motifs. Central wooden gates provide access. The remaining walls are constructed of red brick in a random bond pattern. The north wall has a pair of 20th-century red brick piers with stone cornices and wooden gates. Originally, there were 18th-century gazebos at both the northeast and southeast angles, but only the southeast gazebo remains. This gazebo is made of red brick, primarily in header bond, and has a tiled roof with a later dovecote on top. It features one 12-paned sash window with a moulded architrave and a plank door with elaborate metal hinges.
