Description
21 and 22 Montpelier Road are terraced houses built around 1825. They are constructed of stucco with a roof that is hidden by a parapet. The buildings rise four storeys above a basement and feature a two-and-a-half window range, with central blind windows on the first, second, and third floors. The ground floor has a rusticated appearance, but the original porch and entrance have been replaced with a crude late 20th-century porch and basement entrance. There are full-height segmental bays on both sides of the entrance. All windows are flat-arched, with those on the first floor having architraves; the central first-floor window has been altered to a French window, and the balcony with cast-iron railings is likely a replacement. A storey band runs between the second and third floors, and the outer windows on the second and third floors retain sashes of the original design. The buildings also feature a cornice and parapet. The interior has not been inspected.
