Description
23 and 24 Montpelier Road are terraced houses built around 1825. They are constructed of stucco, with a roof that is hidden by a parapet. The buildings rise four storeys above a basement and feature a three-window range. The basement and ground floor have a rusticated finish. There is a paired central porch supported by Doric columns, which holds an entablature with a triglyph frieze and a mutule cornice. The entrance has been altered in the 20th century for flats. All the windows are flat-arched; those on the first, second, and third floors have architraves, with the first-floor windows featuring a central pediment and floating cornices on the outer windows. A first-floor balcony has cast-iron railings, likely a replacement. There is a storey band between the second and third floors, and the second floors of Nos 23 and 24 have 6/6 sash windows of original design. The buildings also have a dentil cornice and parapet, although the balustrading is missing. The interior has not been inspected.
