Description
No. 36 Camelford Street is a terraced house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of stucco and features a gambrel roof covered with tiles. The building has three storeys and dormers above a basement, with a two-window range. The entrance is paired with that of No. 35 and is round-arched with a fanlight, featuring an architrave interrupted by impost blocks and a keystone decorated with a wreath. There is a full-height canted bay with tripartite, flat-arched windows, although the original sashes have been replaced. Above the entrance, there is one blocked, flat-arched window on each floor. The house has an entablature and parapet, along with a single flat-arched dormer. A stack is located on the party wall. The interior has not been inspected. A plaque near the entrance notes that George Jacob Holyoake, a social reformer and co-operator, lived here from 1881 until his death in 1906.
