Description
No. 89 on St James's Street is a terraced house dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, featuring a shop front that was added in the mid to late 19th century. The building is constructed of stucco, with its roof hidden by a parapet. It has three storeys and a single-window range. The entrance is located within a cast-iron shop front, which retains a cast-iron entablature as its only original feature. The first and second floors each have a segmental bay with a tripartite window, and all windows are flat arched. The original design of the sashes includes 6 x 12 panes in the centre and 4 x 8 panes on the sides for the first floor, while the second floor features 6 x 6 panes in the centre and 4 x 4 panes on the sides. There are stacks on the party wall. The interior has not been inspected. No. 89 is part of a group with three other buildings in this block: Nos. 87-87A, 88, and 90.
