Description
The ice house at St Joseph's Roman Catholic School is a structure dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is built of red-brown brick and is covered with earth. A vaulted tunnel leads to a domed, circular chamber. The entrance to the low, segmental-arched tunnel is through a board door set in a screen wall that features a stone cornice. Inside, there is a basket-arched entrance (with the door removed) leading into the chamber, which has been filled in. This ice house served Etloe House on Church Road.
