Description
The ice house at St. Joseph's Convent School is a structure from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is made of red brick and rendered with lime-based mortar, with its exterior covered in earth and shrubs for shade. The entrance features a round arch and leads down a short flight of shallow steps into a barrel-vaulted tunnel that is approximately 8 feet long. Inside, the space is cone-shaped with a drain at the base and a saucer dome above. This ice house was originally part of the Grove House estate.
