Description
Pelham High School is a former school building dating from around 1900. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a tiled hipped roof that extends to the eaves. The design is in the Wren revival style, showcasing a symmetrical facade with sixteen bays facing Southey Road. The outer bays are set back, and there is a tower on the right side. The central six bays are more prominent, featuring a semi-circular pediment above the centremost pair. The building stands three storeys tall, with the entrance located in the right-hand bay, which has a square-headed design and an oculus above. The windows are square-headed with gauged brick heads, many of which have prominent keystones. The sashes include small panes with glazing bars, and the building is accented with brick and stone quoins. A modillion cornice and a central cupola add to its architectural interest, along with some decorative carving. The tower on the right has a stepped top and a cupola. The return facade to Pelham Road is also noteworthy. The interior has not been inspected.
