Description
No 1 Belvedere Drive is a detached house dated 1901, designed by Ernest George and Yeates. It features roughcast walls with some stone dressings and a slated mansard roof that reaches the eaves. The building is in the Queen Anne style with French influences and consists of two storeys with five bays, including a central projecting section.
The entrance is marked by a two-storey pedimented porch that has an arched doorway with keyed voussoirs, and above it is a tall casement window with a wrought iron bombé balcony. The windows throughout are square-headed with flush frames and sashes, except for a pair of bays on the ground floor to the right, which have a single segmental arched three-light window featuring timber mullions and a transom with casements. The windows have small panes and thick glazing bars.
There is a moulded eaves cornice and three square-headed dormers with casement windows. The returns of the building also hold architectural interest.
